I’m sitting here on the floor, laptop on my thighs, waiting for my oatmeal to cook.
(I’ve been adding a pinch of freshly ground black pepper to my oats, along with the usual cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, which is surprisingly good!)
Today’s daily email prompt invites me to write about how my offer is specifically relevant to women, and I just…don’t want to write about that.
I feel like writing about something that’s actually relevant to me right now.
It comes with a feeling. A feeling that rises from my chest in waves of gratitude, tickling the corners of my eyes.
What prompted this began listening to my Spotify Discover playlist, when these song lyrics came on:
“You can change the world.”
I heard something beyond the typical hopeful, empowering message about changing the world, your life makes a difference, be the change you wish to see…yadda, yadda.
Don’t get me wrong, I love that message. But not today.
Today what I heard was:
“You can change your world right now. Just stop thinking about what isn’t.”
I felt it then, this vast space of What Is and how much time I spend thinking about something else.
And then another message via Mike Dooley’s aptly titled Notes From the Universe:

I’ve been fairly obsessed lately with taking full responsibility for my own experience, and it’s caused me to be fairly obsessed with seeing through the world I’ve made up.
For the most part, the world I see is pretty freaking amazing. Adorable people with immense creativity and resilience just bursting through them. Such brilliance! Such genius!
And all the love people create through conversations, in business, in the service they give the world.
I see so much going right, so much working in our favor, naturally.
But sometimes I see a world where people are scary because of what they might think of me, where I’m getting old and my eyesight is deteriorating, and where I need to predict the source of my next dollar in order to be okay.
Now I see…
I’ve been spending an inordinate amount of time and attention on the “more” and “different” I’d like to create, with a commitment to see through the bullshit of the world as I’ve created it.
When the answer is much simpler and more immediate.
I don’t need more. I don’t need different.
When I fall into love with life, exactly as it is now, I have everything I could ever want.
Forget about becoming a magnet for MORE! MORE! MORE!
More isn’t even a question when I’m in love with now. It’s just the natural unfolding.
My striving isn’t necessary, and neither is a deeper understanding. (Not knocking those things, they just can’t give what I really want.)
I already have what I want and need. Right here.
Only a random, irrelevant yet urgent MORE! MORE! MORE! thought steals my attention away from it.
I write about it in stories like this one. I see it sometimes.
But I always feel it when I slow down enough to just. Be. Here. Now.
Do you know what I mean?
It’s enough. We’re enough.
This moment is everything.
That’s what I really wanted to write about today.
What do you really want to create today?
Maybe you’ll take a minute (or five) to do that before taking on the chores and To Dos.
Or just maybe, you’ll make your whole life about that. 😉
Yours in love and play,
Steph
