The Shape-Shifting WriterI’ve wanted to be a writer since forever.

Somewhere in the box of school memorabilia and report cards I left in Florida is a story I wrote at ten years old called, “In the Fog.” It includes phrases like such fancies and alas, and it mentions dragons!

Apparently, I had a thing for drama and fantasy, even then.

When I was thirteen I declared that one day, “when I was old and knew something,” I would write a memoir.

Alas, a love for writing has always been with me.

Most recently, I’ve fallen in love with daily writing in the form of these emails. This daily practice clarifies my thoughts and seduces the muse. It never ceases to delight and surprise me with what emerges through words on the page.

All that to say…

I’m thoroughly hooked on daily emails. I could see myself writing this way until my chin hairs have gone white and my knees are saggy.

But, but, but…

It would be wonderful to completely set myself free from the idea of what these emails are supposed to look like. Right now they’re ostensibly intended to connect with this community and grow my business in doing so.

Perhaps one day I’ll use them to write daily installments of a novel. (Or publish the one I’ve already written.)

Or maybe they will morph into Daily Dragon musings and meditations.

Perhaps some new form of communication will come from this daily expression that is yet to be imagined. Pole dance coaching? Performance art marketing? Divinated project management?

Writing, for me, is here to stay.

My identity, however, is not so solid or easy to predict.

I see myself shape-shifting through writing projects and expressions with increasing boldness and self-indulgence. Because, why not?

I am interested in a good challenge. And such fancies.

So I invite you to challenge me:

What would you like me to write about?

It could be the practical answer to a question. Or you could request something personal, spiritual or ridiculous.

Give me a writing challenge and I shall do my best to rise to it.

Leave a comment below or message me and give it a whirl. Let’s see where the muse takes us together.

Yours in love and play,

Steph
