I almost never tell my clients what to do or set conditions for our 1:1 coaching adventures together, but there are exceptions.
Such was the case with Violet.
“If we’re going to work together, you have to start charging money,” I told her.
Violet was incredibly competent, educated, intelligent and resourceful. But she’d been funding her education business entirely with her own money for years.
In truth, she was paying to teach her own courses and donating her services.
If that’s what she wanted, that would have been fine. But Violet came to me specifically to make money and get over her discomfort about asking for it.
She was working hard and it had gotten her far, but the cost was too great. She was done fighting for her survival and wanted to create her own life instead.
After four months of working together, Violet was:
- Charging for her services and making a profit (finally!)
- Securing powerful partnerships to promote her business
- Achieved non-profit status and secured a grant
- She was asking for money and getting paid.
But most of all, Violet was trusting herself, honoring her own desires and creating the life she wants, instead of the one she’d been settling for.
Violet felt like a prisoner of her life, and discovered that the only prison was her own mind, and she’d always had the keys to set herself free. Keys in hand, that’s exactly what she did.
The path to paid for Violet came through a deeper understanding of who she really is and what creates our reality. It wasn’t about learning how to ask for money. That in itself is not a difficult task.
It was knowing, in her soul, that she is safe to ask, allowed to desire, and that fear is a thought that cannot hurt her.
As the fears fell away and she learned to take them less seriously, her money-making actions became simple and obvious.
It’s a joy to watch Violet realign her life with her truest self and blossom into the expression of her full creativity. The transformation has rippled across her whole life. She’s happier, more confident and more herself than ever.
