golden compass in handWhy is it sometimes so hard to do what you actually want?

I’ve been noticing in my DragonHeart Portal conversations how mucked up we get about desire.

One person told me, “I don’t want anything.”
Except they did, only wanting something “impossible” doesn’t count.

Another uncovered an old belief, “What you want doesn’t matter.”
According to whom? About what? Clearly such a broad statement couldn’t possibly be true.

Today someone started out with, “I don’t know what I want.”
After a few minutes, they were popping with inspiring dreams.

Having a desire is as simple as a baby reaching for a pretty rattle. Something catches your attention, looks shiny, makes a cool sound, and you’re drawn to it.

Desire is inherently creative. It moves us into action naturally. No will power or motivation required.

When we’re confused about what we want, it’s like being a compass in a magnet field.

Your inner compass always points true north towards what you want. It gives clear, simple direction.

But when you’re surrounded by other people’s opinions and expectations – and the thinking you’ve internalized about it –it’s like standing in a field full of magnets. Your compass needle jerks in every direction.

Your compass isn’t broken; it just needs space away from the interference.

This interference comes in the form of your thoughts. What you think you should do, what it means to want something, why that isn’t okay.

When your thoughts settle, the interference disappears. The direction is clear.

When you know what you want, if you can go for it, you probably will.

Clean and simple.

Desire had gotten a bad rap from religion and industrialization as the gateway to sin, selfishness and disobedience.

But real desire, the kind that bubbles up unbidden, is pure. It’s creation itself.

It’s the compass for a life and business you love.

This is what we explore together in my free workshop: Paid to Be You: Realign Your Business to Create a Life You Love.

In this interactive 60 minute experience, you’ll reconnect with what makes you come alive and create your own compass, a simple map to guide your next inspired actions.
