Someone on Reddit asked:
“How do you figure out what to do with your life?”
Oh, sweetheart.
If I could, I’d reach through the screen and deliver a loving bitch slap — the kind the universe gives me when I’m lost in my own head.
Because the truth is: you already know.
You’re just listening to your thinking instead of your wisdom.
When most people ask this question, they’re looking for a “calling.” Something they do.
A career path, a business, a role. Something that makes them feel certain.
But that’s not how life works.
What actually guides you is desire — what you want — and inner knowing — what you know to do now, even if it doesn’t make sense.
It’s simple, so we overlook it.
It’s obvious, so we dismiss it.
But your inner compass only gives direction for the present moment. As Ken Roberts says in A Rich Man’s Secret, “Now is how.”
Recently, I wanted to go to London for an event, but I wasn’t booking my flight. I kept thinking about logistics, money, the timing. I felt unsure.
Then a friend said, “What if you just pack your suitcase, walk out the door, and see what happens?”
Instantly, something shifted. Within an hour, I’d booked my flight and my accommodations.
I wanted to go, and I could, so I did.
That’s how inner guidance works.
You know when you know, and not before.
So if you’re wondering what to do with your life, stop waiting for the Big Download.
Listen to the smallest whisper.
Follow the spark of excitement.
Nurture the tug of desire.
Then take one small, obvious step.
It’s always already leading you home.
If you’re ready to stop circling the question and start following your inner direction, I’ve reopened DragonHeart Portal Conversations for November.
In these 60-minute sessions, we uncover what your heart truly wants and what’s next on your path, not as a grand plan, but as a lived expression.
Come see what’s waiting for you inside the portal.
