a passport on the table with computer openI’m in a weird kind of immigrant limbo here in Portugal.

My residency expired in August, through no fault of my own, and despite a considerable amount of effort, I still haven’t been able to officially reapply. Even my lawyer is struggling to get immigration appointments for her clients right now.

Interestingly, I’m not worried. I’m doing what I know to do – which right now looks like tracking the process of my apostille documents and bugging my lawyer every week or two – and enjoying my life.

But a practical question entered my world today:

What happens if I need healthcare right now?

What happens if I break a leg or accidentally stab myself in the eye?

I no longer qualify for Portugal’s National Health Service. I don’t have private insurance, and I can’t get a US policy while living abroad.

Not to mention, the U.S. healthcare situation in general is a swirling cauldron of uncertainty for many entrepreneurs.

Luckily, there are people paying close attention to all this so we don’t have to.

My friends Rey Katz and Lex Roman at Revenue Rulebreaker just released a deeply helpful, practical article breaking down seven strategies US-based entrepreneurs are using for healthcare in 2026 — including cost-saving options and creative approaches I hadn’t even considered.

Lex’s featured articles are usually locked behind the member paywall, but they’ve opened this one because it’s too needed not to share:

What are US-based entrepreneurs doing for healthcare in 2026 besides just paying more money?

If you’re a US citizen or business owner navigating health insurance uncertainly, or you want to know what your options are, this article is the dragon’s gold.

Please feel to read, share and pass it on. It might save someone thousands of dollars and a ton of stress.

And one more thing –

It’s pretty amazing not to be worried about any of this. Miraculous, actually, considering what a worrier I used to be.

And it’s equally amazing to support the journalists, connectors and community-buildres who are out there looking out for us.

Send a note of thanks to the connectors in your life. Support them. Love ‘em up and pass on the resources.

Yours in love and play,

Steph 🐉♥️
