I believe in following those random nudges to do things.
Not just because it feels good (it does) or because it often leads to delightful surprises (also true) but because it gets RESULTS.
The tricky part is, it works best without expectations. My idea of “results” is almost never what happens. So it’s kind of like the Universe says, “Do this” without offering a reason, roadmap or guarantee.
But like I said, listening to life has proven worthwhile too many times to ignore.
Here’s one strange chain of events that started with a single nudge.
– Maliha of The Side Blogger sends me a cold email, asking if I’d like to buy a paid ad in her newsletter.
– I join Maliha’s email list to check it out, decide it’s not for me, but click through one of her emails and land on John Bejakovic’s email list.
– I sign up for his Daily Email Habit service. I start sending daily emails, which becomes a cornerstone of my business and creative evolution.
– John B. posts about challenging industry norms in his community.
– My exploration of industry norms leads me to the DragonHeart Portal Sessions experiment.
– Maliha recommends Lex Roman and Revenue Rulebreaker. I sign up for the Legends community.
– Either Maliha or Lex (honestly I can’t remember who) mentions Amber Petty. I sign up for her Pitching Hour membership and end up not digging it, but…
– My first pitch for a paid article is accepted for Revenue Rulebreaker. (Coming soon.)
From one random yes I get money, clients, PR, creative clarity and entire new directions I could not have planned and probably wouldn’t have chosen.
It’s like a crazy game of scavenger hunt where each step reveals the next clue, and the treasure is discovered at every step of the journey.
