I used to be a wedding DJ with my ex-husband in what seems like lifetimes (or three businesses) ago.
It was a strange sort of endeavor to be in.
Weddings happen mostly on the weekends during nice weather. There are only so many of those days, and there were only two of us, which meant we had very limited inventory.
Once a popular date was booked, we’d turn away multiple couples and refer them to our DJ friends. So we made a policy to protect ourselves.
No refunds if the wedding was canceled.
Then came the June wedding that was canceled just seven days before the event because the bride’s father had died in a tragic accident.
We were faced with the question:
Do we stick with our reasonable policy? Or do we follow our hearts?
We refunded the $1,500.
It hurt financially at the time, but it felt clean. We never regretted it.
Years later in 2020, I was coaching a client who was a wedding DJ in Australia. He’d just started a six month agreement with me.
Then lockdown happened.
His entire income disappeared overnight. On top of that, he was dealing with skin cancer and had mounting bills.
Again, I had a choice.
Did I make him stick to his contract? Or do I respond to the human in front of me?
I stopped his payments immediately and continued coaching him for the rest of our time together for free.
Don’t get me wrong. I love making money. These days, I’m extra excited about it!
But the feeling of rightness from those decisions was undeniable. Ripples from moments like those travel further than we can see.
I think that’s why I’m so passionate and outspoken about sharing this DragonHeart stuff. It’s about…
Creating from the heart.
Choosing from the heart.
Not because it’s a good thing to do, but because it changes us. It changes the world we live in, how we serve, and how money moves through our lives.
The DragonHeart Quest I’ve been talking about rests on the desire to awaken the DragonHeart of humanity. Small, heart-led creations offered freely, reminding us of the truth of who we really are.
It’s not quite ready yet. The website still lives in my laptop and not on the internet.
But it’s coming.
It feels like one of the most important things I’ve ever made.
If you want to live from that heartfelt yes, and help create a world where others do, too, I think you’re going to love this.
Comment below DragonHeart if you’d like me to let you know the moment the Quest opens.
This one is calling out for a particular type of human, and I’d love to know if that’s you.
Yours in love and play,
Steph 🐲❤️🔥
