a split image of a woman, left side afraid, right side with dragon silhoutteI take perverse delight in blaming Michael Neill for f#cking up my life.

I did it again today while sharing my latest round of insights into seeing (again) how many of my choices have been shaped by the Imaginary Other People in my head.

“It’s entirely Michael Neill’s fault!” I laughed.

The blame part is a joke. The impact is not.

In case you haven’t met Michael, he’s a world-renowned coach for coaches, best-selling author and spiritual teacher…who cusses like a dragon pirate, gets giddy over dogs, and has a seemingly infinite supply of metaphors ranging from the sacred to the profane.

Nine years ago, It was Michael who introduced me to the Three Principles, an understanding which opened a floodgate of realizations and insights that have rocked my world and provoked multiple mid-life crises.

Suffice to say, I’m a fan.

A few years later, I joined Michael’s Emerging Voices program and got my first chance to have 1:1 time with him, which felt like a big deal.

And when he said (and I quote because when your beloved mentor says something about you, write it down):

“Stephanie, you’re way too cool not to be as successful as you wanna be.”

Two phrases I often use as a short bio came directly from Michael.

Inappropriately joyful. Loveable geek.

I feel somehow recognized in those quirky words, and they’re extra special to me because of the source.

That’s what Michael’s work has done for me over and over again.

It doesn’t “fix” me. It reveals me.

Even though Michael continues to f*ck up my life on a regular basis.

Because once you start seeing the ways you’ve been shaping your life around fear, approval, identity and the imaginary people in your head, you can’t un-see it.

That’s part of what happens in conversations with me, too.

Because when someone really listens, people start telling the truth.

…About what they want, really.

…About what they already know (and have been denying).

…About where they’ve been holding back.

From there, things shift. Sometimes gently. Sometimes like a dragon burning down the castle door.

If you’d like to be recognized for both your genius (and your bullshit) so that you can get those ideas out of your head and into the world, for real, that’s what the DragonHeart Portal conversations are for.
