I love hearing from my readers. Their messages are often inspiring, sometimes in surprising ways.
Take this one:
“I was on the receiving end of a small, artful gift the other day – just like your challenge for everyone to do. I met a man in the dark of the hot spring and had a little conversation and he told me he was a sailor. He grabbed a reed and crafted a tiny origami sailboat out of it and gave it to me. I was so delighted! It really makes a difference. You never know how something small will be significant for someone else…”
Any message that begins with:
I met a man in the dark of a hot spring…
And continues with references to grabbing a reed, well…color me hot-and-bothered. Perhaps this dragon needs to get her mind out of the gutter. 🫠
What I love about this, besides the steamy vibe, is the simple delight of it. An encounter with a stranger. A tiny spontaneous act of creativity.
And suddenly an ordinary moment becomes extraordinary.
The small things are the big things when it comes to moments of connection.
The challenge this reader refers to is the DragonHeart Quest, which is still alive and evolving into its next iteration.
At the end of this month, I’m testing a new simplified version with a live group at a music and arts gathering here in Portugal.
But you’re still invited, wherever you are.
Here’s the Quest in a dragon’s egg shell:
10 minutes.
Make something small and simple.
Give it away.
Tell us what happened.
That’s it. No grand masterpiece or artistic cred necessary.
You don’t even need a sailor in a hot spring. A bus driver, barista, friend or neighbor will do.
Create one small moment of delight. Take the Quest here:

Yours in love and play,
Steph 🐲❤️
