bee in a flowerI used to pretend I knew references I’d never heard just to impress people.

Someone says, “You know the sunscreen song by Baz Lurhmann?”

I’d nod my head thoughtfully – with no idea what they were talking about.

Afterward, I’d feel like an idiot and give myself a hard time for being such a fake.

Why would I do that? I was terrified of looking clueless, and reacted without thinking.

At some point in the past few years, I quit my habit, and something strange happened:

I began to enjoy being clueless.

“You know that new show on Netflix? The latest Elon Musk scandal? The street fight downtown?”

No, no and no. But feel free to tell me all about it!

These days, I rather be REAL.

(I actually told someone this week I’d never heard that Baz Lurhmann song. They were appalled. “You need an education!” they insisted, pulling up the song on YouTube.)

Sometimes, it still feels risky to be this real in business. “You have to be an expert!” was drilled into my head through years of business education.

And yet, I love creating in public. Letting you watch me launch messy offers, experiment in real-time, and do it imperfectly.

We did with the Love Money launch. And yes, I wondered…

What if no one buys?

What if this whole “countdown to launch” thing is a bust?

But it didn’t. People did buy. The launch did work. I’m going to share what we learned, what flopped, and what surprised us in a “post mortem” soon.

Because I want you to see that you don’t need to be perfect to create prosperity. You don’t have to wait until you’re “ready.”

You just have to be willing to go for it—messy, real, and occasionally clueless.
