woman doing a handstand in the waterFor most of my life people have looked at my strong physique and asked if I was either a gymnast or a dancer.

I’d smile and explain that I had no experience in either of those things. Sure, I’d been active all my life with weights, cardio, yoga, bodyweight exercises. But no backflips or pirouettes.

I loved my brief taste of gymnastics when I was eight and always wished I’d done more. But I sucked at dancing. Back when I was a wedding DJ, a guest told me I dance like Elaine on Seinfeld. (“Like a full body dry heave set to music,” as George Castanza said. 😬)

I believed the voice in my head that said, “You can’t dance.” And that was that.

Until age 45, when I discovered pole dancing, thanks to my Impossible Dragon Dance Project. 🐲

Looking back, I realize life has been inviting me to dance for years. Every time someone made a comment about my body, it was a nudge. Life seems to know what I’ll fall in love with, better than I do.

Now at 48, I’m a true pole junkie. When planning my trip to London, the first thing I mapped out wasn’t the Tube, but the local pole dance studios.

It wasn’t too late for me to discover something that feels made just for me.

And it’s not too late for you, either.

Here’s proof (only if you need it) –

Laura Ingalls Wilder published her first “Little House” book at 65.

Vera Wang shifted from figure skater and fashion legend at age 40.

Carol Douglas enrolled in art school at age 66, sold hundreds of paintings and had a solo exhibition at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Eddie Brocklesby didn’t start running until 50 and became the oldest British woman to complete an Ironman triathlon at 74.

Are these people extraordinary? Sure.

Not because of exceptional talent, but because they didn’t listen to the voices saying, “It’s too late. Why bother?”

It’s not too late as long as you have breath. And I’m assuming you can still fog a mirror (or you wouldn’t be reading this email) which means it’s not too late for YOU.

Would it be too forward to admit how I really feel?

I love you.

I love the dreams tucked into your heart.

You’re amazing.

My wish is for you to play the game of life with your whole heart, roll the dice, and see what happens. Because you can.

If you’re feeling this, don’t be so quick to race off to the next item on your To Do List. Take it as a sign from the Universe to…

✨ Do the thing.

✨ Take the leap.

✨ Say yes.

And if you’d like a community to cheer you on, hold you steady and remind you that it’s never too late, join us in the IMPACT membership.

Say yes when the Universe invites you to dance.

“Rarely does one find the quick fix, the big win, or a home run looking forward on the horizon of time.

“Yet when they do their best, one day at a time, while thinking of their dreams and not the ‘hows,’ looking back they find that the quick fixes, big wins, and home runs found them.” ― Mike Dooley, Notes from the Universe

Yours in love and play,

Steph
