As my impossible deadline for the DragonHeart Quest looms, I’ve been asking people:
Why haven’t you taken the DragonHeart Quest?
The #1 answer:
“I’m too busy.”
“I’ve got so much going on.”
Yep. I get it.
If it sounds like it will take a lot of time, like more than 10 minutes, I haven’t been doing a good job of communicating it.
This response was especially enlightening:
“The blank canvas + pressure to do art + pressure to pick someone, etc. was a lot of decision gates, especially when I’m on my last few functional neurons.”
Ah ha!
The overwhelming of looking at too many decisions, on top of feeling there’s already too much to do. Makes sense.
One of the DragonHeart Pods this week, hosted by the amazing Lex Roman of Revenue Rulebreaker, a participant made some postcards with Canva to give to her family. At the end she said:
“Thank you so much for hosting this. It got me to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.
If it seems like there’s too many decisions required to take the Quest – that’s on me.
But if you’ve been wanting to spend more time being creative, or to send a quick note to a friend, or to simply connect more with the people around you…and you haven’t made the time for it…
That one’s on you.
Fortunately, it’s easy to fix.
10 minutes. Make something small and simple (now better prompts!) Give it to someone (also better prompts!) Tell us what happened.
Sometimes the thing that makes the time appear is simply to begin.
