It was the year 2010.
Taio Cruz’s Dynamite was packing the dance floor at the weddings I DJ’d with my husband. We were running a thriving wedding DJ business, grossing over $100k each year. Our couples loved us and there was room to grow.
Except I didn’t want to.
I loved serving our couples, but the late nights, loud music and back-to-back weekends were exhausting for an early-to-bed gal like me.
I just wasn’t in love with DJ’ing. Our couples deserved the best, and I felt like a fake because my heart wasn’t in it.
So there I was, with a successful business that I didn’t want, unsure of what to do.
Then I got a strange email.
It was from Dr. Mercola’s natural health newsletter, something that had nothing to do with business. But in this email, he recommended something unusual: a business course called The Guru Blueprint by Eben Pagan.
I clicked through to learn more…and my whole world exploded.
The Guru Blueprint was a one-year program to teach you how to create and launch an information product business from scratch. With a price tag of $7,000.
It made no logical sense.
I had zero experience in creating an online course.
But something about it made my soul tingle. And I’d just been saying that I wanted a “guru.” Could that be a coincidence?
I wanted to take this course more than anything.
But for $7k? It was crazy.
I couldn’t sleep for days. I agonized and obsessed as the deadline for course enrollment loomed.
And then – I enrolled.
It wasn’t just about taking the course. This one choice was a catalyst.
It opened up a new world of content creation, digital marketing, email marketing and coaching.
If I hadn’t taken the leap, you wouldn’t be reading this email right now because The Awakened Business (two or three businesses after our DJ business) wouldn’t even exist.
All this to say:
Your big leap won’t always make logical sense, but it will feel right.
Marketing became my way of serving, playing and changing lives with my message—and helping others do the same.
