If you’re starting something new, whether it’s a brand new service or even an entirely new business…
…you don’t have to start from scratch.
The idea of beginning with nothing is daunting. It’s like staring at a blank page with no words to fill it.
But you’re never actually starting from scratch.
If the desire is present, the path is already active. If you’re aware of it, you’re already part of it.
When someone shares what they desire to create, I can see the possibilities dancing around them because…
It’s already happening.
The journey to anywhere you want to go begins right where you are now, which means you’re already on the adventure of creation.
“Great. That’s inspiring, Steph,” I imagine you saying. “But what do I do with that?”
Well, when you’re thinking about your next step as if you’re “starting from scratch,” you don’t notice what you already have.
Your next step is right in your backyard.
It’s the people you know. Your neighbors, friends and loved ones. It’s your current clients.
It’s the connections you already have, the work you’ve already done.
I have an invitation right now for you to get your butt and into motion. Are you ready?
Great! Grab a pen and let’s go.
Step #1 – Write down the thing you’re wanting to create. (The course, the membership, the package, the book, the retreat, whatever.)
Step #2 – Now write down the names of five people you can tell about your idea.
They don’t have to be “potential clients.” Anyone will do. The point is for you to start talking about it.
Michael Neill calls this “putting wax on the candle,” and it’s a potent form of creation.
When making drip candles, you begin by dipping the wick into a pot of hot wax. Each time you dip in the wick, more wax is layered on, until eventually, you have a candle.
In the same way, each conversation elicits new words, details and ideas from you. The person you’re speaking to may ask questions. Your creation begins to take form.
So you’re not starting from scratch. You’re starting from the infinite possibilities of right now.
