open book with magical light floatingI was listening to a friend share their love of learning.

All the books they’re reading and the philosophies they’re exploring. The connections they’re making between it all.

I found myself just delighted.

It’s so fun to witness someone following their curiosity and the impulse to discover something new.

It’s a gift for them, but it’s also a gift for everyone around them.

When someone is fully engaged in what they love, it draws you in. It invites you to join them.

It got me thinking about the desire so many of us secretly want.

We fantasize about being known and loved completely for who we are.

I’ve felt that, too, and I’ve noticed something interesting.

When I’m really with someone…listening, noticing, just there…a feeling shows up.

Connection.

It doesn’t come from understanding them perfectly. It’s deeper.

Oh. You’re here. I’m here.

A sense of fullness envelops me. It almost feels like I disappear a little.

And what’s left is just being with someone.

I think that’s actually what we’re looking for when we say we want to be seen.

Not recognition, but connection.

I remember years ago, I was doing a movement challenge and I had this thought:

“I want to be recognized.”

It felt heavy and almost gross. Recognized by who? For what?

And then I saw something.

I didn’t actually want other people to recognize me. I wanted that feeling.

The less “me” is on my mind, the more that feeling is just there. It’s less like recognition and more
like belonging.

It’s being part of something that’s already happening.

When you’re in that space, life starts to move through you in surprising ways.

For example, I’m on a startup team right now, and we need structure, a system to organize what we’re doing.

This is not my usual thing. In fact, I’ve always thought that kind of work was boring.

And yet, something in me said, “Create a project dashboard.”

So I did.

It didn’t feel like effort or trying to prove something. Somehow it just felt like mine to do.

What came through was actually really good!

It had nothing to do with me being “good enough.” Life was just using me perfectly in that moment.

What happens when you shift from trying to be someone…and start being available for what wants to move
through you?

When you’re in that space, you don’t need to chase recognition. You’re already in the feeling you hoped it would bring.

This is something people often discover in the DragonHeart Portal conversations.

The clarity, connection, and direction they’ve been trying to get are already available the moment they stop chasing and start listening.

If something in this resonates, and you’re curious what it might open up in your life or your work you can book a DragonHeart Portal conversation (only $25) and explore it for yourself.

Yours in love and play,
