hand of old lady giving banana to another handI heard a story about Mother Teresa today.

It was unverified, and I don’t know Mother Teresa well enough to disturb her afterlife for a fact-check, so bear that in mind. Still, it’s a good story.

Decades ago, Mother Teresa was interviewed on a popular U.S. radio show. The host had a massive audience and big sponsors.

He asked Mother Teresa what he could do to make a difference.

“Go to the grocery store,” she said. “Buy some bananas. Give them to the homeless.”

He pushed back. He had millions of listeners and media buyers. Influence and reach. Surely he could organize something larger. Fundraise. Lobby.

Mother Teresa smiled.

“If you want to make a difference, buy some bananas and give them away.”

Here’s what she understood:

The most powerful difference is the one you can make right where you are.

It’s rarely grand and it won’t impress anyone. It doesn’t flatter your ego.

It’s small and it’s simple. It matters.

That’s the spirit of the DragonHeart Quest.

Make something small.

Give it away to someone who won’t be expecting it.

Spark a moment of real, human connection.

Then return to the website and log your spark so it becomes part of the 10,000.

Every spark makes a difference. Your spark makes a difference. Not because it’s huge, but because it’s yours.

Are you waiting for a bigger stage to matter?

If you want to make a difference this week, here’s a place to start.

Take the DragonHeart Quest. And if you feel bold, host a DragonPod. You can even bring bananas in honor of Mama T. 🍌

Begin where you are.
