I’ve had countless conversations in my life.
Some conversations invited me to fall in love. Others cracked me open.
All of them changed me.
I built a business around transformational conversations because of how creative, inspiring and life-altering they can be.
I’ll share two experiences with my beloved mentor, Michael Neill, who has shown up as a loving disruptor to fuck with my life and business repeatedly over the years.
(It wasn’t really Michael, of course – it was the Truth he points to that keeps flipping my life upside down, but it’s more fun pretending to blame him.)
When I saw him last year at the Listening World Conference in Prague, I told him:
“I love giving you money! I hope you have as much as you could ever desire.”
And I meant it. Every penny I’ve invested has been a joyful contribution, and I will certainly continue to spend more.
Then came a 1:1 conversation a few months ago, where Michael shared the kind of feedback that makes you wince because you know it’s true.
He said I seemed “dampened” in the content I’d been sharing inside The Awakeners program. The bright, alive, mischievous Steph he knew wasn’t fully showing up.
Ouch. I felt like I’d disappointed him. Disappointed myself. But he was right.
I was still holding something back.
It wasn’t until recently that I saw how I’d still been creating my life and business according to someone else’s criteria — even after freeing myself from so many externals that didn’t fit.
I’d left a loving marriage. A profitable business. I even moved to Portugal.
And yet I was still subtly designing my life to “be successful” by some imagined standard…
…instead of simply doing what I really wanted.
I just want to be me. Whatever that looks like.
And in that moment I saw it. The thing I’ve known conceptually for years, but finally SAW.
I already have what I’ve been searching for, what I’ve been chasing all my life.
Me.
That realization sparked the evolution of The Awakened Business into Steph DragonHeart, a mystical playground that includes all of me.
And it inspired the Dragonheart Portal Conversations Experiment to redefine what a “sales conversation” can be.
