For more than two years, I’ve sent a daily email out to my subscribers.
Every single day. With one or two exceptions for a holiday break.
Well, I did not send daily emails over the weekend.
(You may not have noticed unless you’re getting my Daily Dragon emails.)
I made the choice intentionally.
At first, it felt hard. Uncomfortable
After all, I’ve made a commitment to send daily emails, and generally, I enjoy doing it.
But there’s this slippery space when a choice made by Yesterday Stephanie starts calling the shots…
…when Today Stephanie requires something else.
I saw that I’d made up the daily email commitment, and I could unmake it because it’s not a rule unless I want it to be.
And so, in service of stewarding the Collaboratorium project with Radiant IRIS, I took a break over the weekend.
In that space, a universal process for creating team coherence emerged. I got clarity on what we know and what needs to be decided as a team. And I spent a lot of time sythesizing and designing.
Undoubtedly, it was the thing to do.
(Note that I didn’t call it the “right” thing. That’s intentional.)
I let go of a commitment that wasn’t serving me in the moment, and now I pick it back up again when it does.
Could it be that simple?
It’s a reminder for me of how I sometimes recreate things just because I did them yesterday, even when they are no longer alive.
But that’s a choice I can change anytime.
If there’s something in your own life that feels like it doesn’t quite fit…
…when will now be the time to make the change you’d like to see?
Yours in love and play,
Steph 🐲❤️
