Once upon a time, there was a traveler who needed to cross the river.
The rapids were rough and the river was deep. He walked along the bank, searching for a way to cross.
Eventually, he came upon a bridge, solid and strong, connecting the two shores. A tollkeeper stood at the entrance.
“This is exactly what I need!” the traveler said. “How much?”
“Two shillings,” the tollkeeper replied.
The traveler stepped onto the bridge. It held firm beneath his feet. The river roared below, but the planks didn’t move.
Halfway across, the tollkeeper called out, “Actually…pay whatever feels right.”
The traveler hesitated.
He looked down at the bridge. Same wood. Same structure. Same distance to the other side.
But something had changed.
He turned around.
