silhoutte of a lady with a cup of coffee on the tableIf we were sitting across from each other over tea or coffee, this is what I’d ask. And maybe you’d tell me true.

What have you overcome to be where you are today?

Because everything that’s ever happened to you – every heartbreak, injury, disappointment, or dark night of the soul – you’ve gotten through.
Every single one.

Even the horrible thing you swore would be your end.

They weren’t (apparently) because here you are.

What was it that got you through?

I’m going to go scramble out onto the skinny branches here and suggest it was…

YOU.

The intelligence of you. The part of you that held on when you wanted to let go, or that let go when you wanted nothing more than to hold on.

The part of you that knows exactly what you need to hear and do to survive.

I’m not saying it doesn’t get ugly sometimes, and feel uglier. The gnarliest are often gnarliest in the dark.

But it’s worth remembering: no matter what has happened to you, something always got you through it.

And that something has always been with you, and always will be.

Would you like to get to know that something (the deeper you) a little better? To listen before things get desperate, instead of waiting until they do?

You can begin right now. Take a moment, be still, and just listen.

And if you’d like a listening partner, someone to be space for what you already know deep inside, let me know.

Yours in love and play,

Steph
