cluttered vs clean desk

A question I saw recently in a community of entrepreneurs caught my attention:

“I really want to grow my little small business media company and I’m looking for ideas to expand my audience.

Here’s what I’ve tried

  • Facebook ads
  • Google ads
  • Linkedin ads
  • Having a referral program
  • Social media (Linkedin, bsky, Threads)
  • YouTube videos
  • Collaborations (though I could be doing more)
  • Virtual events

My audience is creative solopreneurs (web designers, branding experts, copywriters, marketers) and I really want to double my list this year so I can increase my sponsorship rates and hit my paid subscriber goal.

What’s working for you? What should I be trying?”

It’s such a familiar energy.

Do more. Push harder. Find the missing tactic.

And here was my response:

First, you’re doing an amazing job.

Your continued quest to grow is a big part of what makes it so amazing. I think it’s just a matter of time before you hit your goals.

Still, I’ll do my humble best to share what’s working for me and my clients.

Growth doesn’t come from stacking on more strategies. It comes from following what you know.

🔥 Do what you love. Do what inspires you. Follow the spark.

I really feel it when you talk about shifting from content creators to media platforms. I feel it when you talk about the power of small creators sharing the news. I feel your desire to uplift marginalized populations.

That energy is magnetic.

What you’re passionate about has an energy that’s naturally attractive to your audience. The more powerfully you express and unleash it, the more impactful it will be.

As for the specific mediums and strategies, choose the ones you enjoy.

What you enjoy carries that energy, and you’re also likely to stick with it long enough to crack the formula. That’s far more signficant than the platforms or tactics you choose.

I’d also invite you to imagine the craziest, most magical, “impossible” things you could do to promote your business. Get really wild and unrealistic.

If you make a list of 25 such ideas, you’ll find the seeds of something alive and unexpected in those wild wonderings.

One more question to draw out hidden gold: What are you afraid to say? Where might you be holding back?

Often the thing we call “too much” unlocks the most powerful expression.

Here’s what I know:

If you’re fully in the game, doing what occurs to you, growth is inevitable.

That’s just how it works.

You won’t find the answers in frantic thinking.

They arrive in quieter spaces. When your mind is quiet, they drop in like surprise visitors bringing exactly what you need.

This is the space we enter inside a DragonHeart Portal session.

It’s not a strategy call. It’s a space to slow down and listen beneath the noise, to reconnect with the deeper desire that’s calling you.

From there, action becomes simpler and more potent. Inevitable.

If you’d like to experience this for yourself, book a DragonHeart Portal session here.

Yours in love and play,
