I signed up for two free webinars this week.
#1 is called, “How I Turned My Email Newsletter Into an Automated Sales Machine and Increased Sales By 1,876%.”
(Yep. Hypey, but curiosity-arousing.)
#2 is called, “Pleasure as Practice.”
(Why not, right?)
Both caught my interest, and both sent me emails prior to the presentation. Although one of them has sent me several emails. Bet you can’t guess which one. 😆
Here’s something #1 did right.
The presenter made it crystal clear that there would be no replay, explaining that he wanted attendees who were serious enough to show up. He even sent a warning email: they had way more registrations than space on the zoom call, so if you don’t log in early, you might miss out.
Guess what I did?
I put it on my calendar, even though it started at 8pm BST (late for me) and I showed up five minutes early.
The psychological mumbo-jumbo worked on me like catnip on a kitten.
And it made me realize something.
I’ve noticed the same things with my IMPACT workshops. When the topic is specific and something people genuinely want, they show up.
It sounds obvious, but it often isn’t.
I used to do all that pushy, hypey sales stuff, like the guy from webinar #1. And it worked!
But somewhere along the way, I developed some thinking that selling is wrong, unethical, manipulative and just plain bad.
There’s a lesson in this for me (and possibly you):
Give people a reason to act now, and you’ll get more actions.
There are plenty of authentic, legitimate ways to invite fast action.
- A limited number available
- A set start date for enrollment
- Maximum capacity
- “Early bird” discounts, if that feels good for you
None of it is good or bad, except for thinking makes it so.
It’s got me realizing how much fear of being a “bad, pushy salesperson” has been running in the background of my mind. And it’s gotta go.
Because, let’s get real about something:
If you want to make money, you need to sell. And the more you sell, the more people buy.
That doesn’t have to mean pressure or hype. It simply means making clear, authentic invitations with a reason to say yes now instead of later.
Because waiting helps no one.
And if you’re ready to sell in a way that feels aligned with your soul — no manipulation, no hype, just clarity, creativity, and joy — let’s talk.
